John "Jack" Henry Thomas III, 80 of the Hilldale section of Plains Twp., passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 10, 2024, surrounded by his wife and daughters.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Oct. 25, 1943, he was the son of the late John H. Thomas Jr. and Ann K. Stanton Thomas. He grew up on the south side of town and attended EL Meyers High School.
Jack worked in residential construction for 50 years until retirement, joining the Carpenters Union of Philadelphia for a short time mid-career.
He met Jeanette Pechulis and they were married July 3, 1993. They lived in North Wilkes-Barre, Ashley, then in his retirement moved to Hilldale. There, Jack continued his hobbies of watching car racing and football, as well as hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. Jack enjoyed his hot tea and listening to Alabama.
Jack was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a great friend to many.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving parents, John and Ann; brother, Ernest; and sister, Mary.
Surviving to mourn are his wife of 30 years, Jeanette; daughters, Dee Ann White, Ann Marie Kocher and Amber Thomas; brothers and sisters, Robert, Carol, Bob, Billy, John, Delbert and George; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial visitation to be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday officiated by the Rev. Dennis Gray.
