William B. "Bill" Brown

BILLINGS - William B. Brown age 102 of Billings died of molecular inactivity on June 4, 2024.

He was born March 31, 1922 in Hope Arkansas the identical twin son of Harvey and Gwen Brown. He completed high school in Oakland, CA and worked in the Richmond Ship Yards as a pipe welder.

He enlisted in the Navy Seabees in 1943 and was a deep-sea diver in the South Pacific.

He attended Rocky Mt College and Married Doris L. Foster in Billings MT in 1949. He graduated from the San Francisco college of mortuary science in 1950. He became a partner with Jered Scherer, Bill Bray and Ron Stene in the Smith Funeral Chapels. He served on the MT State Board of Funeral Directors for five years. He was a member of the Montana Team at the National Rifle Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio. He was a member of the crew on the Yacht in the Transpacific race to Honolulu in 1963. In 1990 he sailed the South Pacific on the 40 ft yacht Mirage for three months with lifelong friends the Harlanders.

He and Doris loved their many friends and staff at the Pryor Creek Golf Course. They also enjoyed their volunteer service and many friends at Faith Chapel. His wife Doris died in 2002. He met and later married Marjie Blankenbaker in 2007. The two of them enjoyed their volunteer service at church as well as traveling. They became active in study groups at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Bill Brown was a kind, giving and caring man who loved to joke around with everyone. He will be forever remembered and very much missed. We love you dad! R.I.P.

He is survived by his wife Marjie and her loving family, two daughters Joni (Mike) Kay, Janet (John) Spadora, three grandsons John, Jesse and Riley, a great grandson and three great granddaughters. He was proceeded in death by his wife Doris, son Jeff Brown and twin brother Frank Brown.

There will be a graveside service Monday the 10th of June at 1:00 at Terrace Gardens. Memorials may be made to Stillwater Hospice 3737 Grand Ave. 59102.
