Hans Bruhner Obituary

Hans G Bruhner 1933-2022
Hans was born in Stockholm where he was always an athlete at any age playing handball, soccer, ice hockey and running, usually 400 meters, with two Stockholm Teams and also with the Swedish National Team. As a boy, he explored the many Islands near his home, visited Skansen, the Swedish Zoo and old folk villages; Grona Lund for its carnival scene, music and dancing; museums of history and art; studios of local artists; the American Embassy where he was introduced to Jazz; the local Jazz clubs; Gamla Stan, the old town; and Bro his parent's country cabin.
Hasse traveled by working in the summer on ships from Gothenburg to England, Egypt, the United States and ports along the way. He received a Swedish/American scholarship to Miami University in Oxford Ohio, worked on a ship to travel there, practiced running with the University team and discovered he could earn a Bachelor's Degree within one year. He worked three years for Swedish Bonnier Publishing House in Medellin, Columbia, where he met his wife and began his family. Before returning to Stockholm, the family traveled to many Jazz and other sites in the US. In Sweden Hans worked with Swedish Esso. After emigrating to California, his American Bachelor's Degree and his knowledge of a Card Reading Program just being introduced to Chevron, earned him a job immediately after a morning interview.
Hans loved people and enjoyed a good conversation of stories, humor and laughter and becoming a longtime friend. You, his friends, have commented on how much you loved him and he definitely loved you back. We found a very warm community in Comptche and on the Mendocino Coast and brought many people here to visit. We have long felt that we have been luckier than most to have enjoyed our 60 year life together in the midst of very special people. Hasse has joined his sister, Ulla, his brother, Kalle, his father Gid, his mother Irma and our daughter Karin. He is survived in Sweden by his brother Eddie, Eddies's two sons, his brother Kalle's son, his sister Ulla's four children and partners and their children and partners. He is survived on the West Coast of the United States by his wife, Anne, his son Hans, daughter-in-law, Lori and grandchildren Sam with Em and Anna.
We are planning a small meadow celebration of life with good friends enjoying the sunshine and feeling the beauty of life here. It will be in May near Hasse and Hans birthday and we will let you know about it… Love to all of you and thank you for being our dear friends.

Gösta och jag gladdes var gång vi fick brev och vernissagekort . Nu kan jag bara säga att det är med sorg i hjärtat jag läser om Hasses bortgång.
