Dolores Bernece Ocksrider



Dolores Bernece Ocksrider, 93, passed away peacefully on August 26th, 2023, at home with family by her side.

Bernece was born in Albuquerque on December 3rd, 1929, to Bernece Cox and John Mantonye. She is survived by her four children, Dean Ocksrider (Rona), Jon Ocksrider (Nancy), Christopher Ocksrider (Diane), and Rachel Ocksrider, all of Albuquerque; grandson, David Ocksrider of Scottsdale, AZ. grandson Jamie Ocksrider (Shiree) of Albuquerque; great grandsons Owen and Otto, grandson Justin Ocksrider (Caroline), of Atlanta, GA, and great-granddaughter Mia. She is also survived by her brother Berry Cox (Sada) of Williamsburg, NM.



Bernece graduated from Albuquerque High School at age 16 and U.N.M. at the age of 19. She taught elementary school in Gallup and Albuquerque. Additionally, she worked as a successful stockbroker for 33 years and won multiple awards retiring at the age of 87.



In 1976, Bernece served as State Regent of the NM chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.). She loved animals and enjoyed genealogy, chess, bridge and was an avid poker player. Bernece was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an intelligent, lovely woman who will be greatly missed.



A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 1st, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Gates of Heaven. Special thanks to her caregivers Socorro, Andrea, and Laura.
