Dale De Steno Obituary

Dale De Steno passed away on October 15, 2023 at the age of 46.

Dale was born on September 3, 1977 to Nancy and Bob De Steno. He grew up with his parents and sister, Dawn, in Columbia Heights, MN and later Andover, MN. He worked as an Executive Recruiter in Engineering for over 20 years, in addition to being an entrepreneur. He married his wife Chanell in 2018. Between them they had two children, 14 year old Dane De Steno and 11 year old Elyse Leach. Some of their favorite family activities included yard games, outdoor activities, watching movies, playing video games, hanging out with friends, bonfires, vacationing, and raising their dog Jack. Although Dale was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in August 2021, his zest for life and will to live never faltered. Dale wrote over 40 real, raw, and unfiltered blogs on his cancer journey which brought even the saddest of people to smile and inspired other cancer patients around the world to not just survive but thrive.

Dale is survived in death by his father Bob; mother Nancy; sister Dawn; wife Chanell; son Dane; daughter Elyse: and family dog Jack. Dale was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, neighbor, co-worker, and friend to all.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 26th at Anoka United Methodist Church. Visitation beginning at 10am, service 11am, with a meal following. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family. Celebration of Life will be on Friday, October 27th at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove from 5pm-10pm. So sad to hear about Dale's passing. He had such enthusiasm for life. We met when he called asking if I needed help filling any of my engineering roles. Often times recruiters continue to come around even after you've politely said no thank you. But Dale was different. I always enjoyed when he reached out and found us to be friends even after I no longer needed his recruitment expertise. Sending heartfelt condolences to all who loved him.

Dale gave me a new lease of life when he helped get me hired in 2009. We struck off right away and remained friends in contact since sharing wonderful life experiences all along. I will miss Dale dearly. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

My deepest sympathy to Dale's family and friends. I never met Dale but we have worked together for many years. He was such an inspirational person who brought a smile to my face and made my day just that much brighter. He fought so hard and loved life and those around him. There is a dimness in the sun as his flame is now out. Peace be with you my friend, catch you on the other side!

I had the pleasure of meeting Dale only one time through I-94 Chamber of Commerce. His zest for life is infectious and truly loved people and what he did. No matter the bad cards he was continually dealt, he always had a smile and a story to share.

Dale was fun and friendly and an all-around great guy. We were in Toastmaster’s at the same time several years ago and Dale’s infectious charm turned us all into friends. He will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathies to his family.
