Dear Dulles Family:
We were saddened to hear of the passing of your father. However, we feel lucky to have gotten to know him over these many years. Your father will be missed by us, and we are sure by many others as well. Your father was a person of great charisma and energy who was always a joy to be around.
He was an inspiration to us on several levels. First and foremost, he was a devoted family man. The fact that your family remained strong and tightly knit, even after the untimely death of his wife, is a true testament to the love and devotion that he had to you and an awesome achievement in is this day and age.
Secondly, his dedication to Hellenism was unparalelled. His is the true definition of a Greek- American. Even to the very end, after every contact we had with him we felt such pride in our heritage because of the wisdom and stories that he would share with us. For instance, he is singlehandely responsible for enriching my understanding of the English language by pointing out the Greek roots of a many word. His passion and enthusiasm in this regard were remarkable!
Finally, he was a leader in every sense of the word. If there was a cause he felt strongly about, he would commit himself to it and bring others along as well. The ceaseless giving of his time and resources is a great example for anyone seeking to give back to the community.
We know that our lives were made better by having known your father and we know that this world was made a better place because of your father. Mr. Ted Dulles was a great man and we will keep him in our prayers.
