One of my biggest thrills in harness racing was in 1974 at Aurora Downs when I was brought up to Tony's announcers booth to meet Tony and watch him call a race. From that point on as I ventured into the business becoming a trainer Tony and I become friends. I have many great memories of Tony along with Angelo that I will always remember and cherish. Tony Salvaro, the voice of Chicago Harness Racing. RIP

I have many beautiful memories of my Cousin Tony and the Salvaro Family. I was just a little kid when our Families shared a two flat in Chicago. I remember Tony's great sense of humor always joking around making everybody laugh with his jokes and the funny faces he would make. Hey Tony really could make some funny faces. I didn't realize it at the time but it was a special magical time for all of us in those days growing up together with our folks, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tony followed his dream of being a race-track announcer and made it happen. He was flying. We were all excited and happy for him and he made us feel a part of it. The years flew by and now I'm here writing my thoughts. Tony I love you and will miss you. I hope they got horseracing up there where you're at. If they don't, I know your Dad is not too thrilled with that. Say hello to your folks (Veto & Christine) and your brother Angelo. I miss them too. Patricia, Jimmy, Little Tony, love you guys. Well there at the gatebetter go.

Tony was one of the greatest guys you could ever meet. He didn't know a stranger and was a great race announcer. We had many good laughs years ago in the Maywood Park Press Box when racing was in its glory days in Chicago. R.I.P. old friend.
