Theodore Korenkiewicz Obituary
Korenkiewicz, Theodore "Ted" Theodore "Ted" Korenkiewicz was born January 29, 1920. He was a native son of Chicago, the family homestead being on Farrell St. in Bridgeport, and a U.S. Veteran of WWII. His parents worked opposite shifts in the Chicago stockyards, with his father being an expert barrel builder. After high school in 1938, Ted went to work for the U.S. Post Office in Chicago, and retired from there in 1975. His only break in employment at the Chicago Post Office was in 1941 when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for WWII service. Ted served as a medic on a Naval hospital ship in the Pacific Theater and was headed toward Japan when the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Ted married Mildred Bradisse in 1953 and thereafter lived at the Bradisse homestead at 3140 So. Shields Ave., Chicago until 2005 when he moved to Peace Village in Palos Park. Ted received his BS degree from IIT in 1971 and after retiring from the Post Office, went to work as a tax auditor for the State of Illinois until retirement in 1985. Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Bradisse Korenkiewicz in 1982; siblings, Ray (Lorraine,) Betty Suchocki (Florian,) Al; and best friend, Wally Sanicki. Ted is survived by his sister, Dorothy Goberville (John) and many Bradisse, Goberville, and Korenkiewicz nieces and nephews in the Chicago area, Wisconsin, Ohio, California, Louisiana, and Arizona. The Bradisse and Korenkiewicz/Goberville families want to sincerely thank Ted's loving family caregivers, Pam Busse, Kathy Ejka, Dominique, Chris, Patty, Alpha and Dawny as well as the staff of Peace Village for all the time they spent making Ted's final years so memorable.
