Bell, Raymond Woodroe Passed in peace at the age of 90. Preceded in death by his parents, William Bell and Gladys Pittman, a sister Rose Settle and half-brother John Allen. Loving father of Margaret Bell-Sloan and Catherine Bell-Basten; brother of Thomas Allen, Inez Quinn, Nancy Smithwick, Ina Moore; brother-in-law of Violet Allen; grandfather and uncle of many. Raymond (or Bobby as friends and family called him) served in the Navy from January 1945 until November 1948. He then attended Wilbur Wright College in Chicago before re-enlisting in May 1951. Originally inducted in New Bern, North Carolina, he served as a medic in the Asiatic-Pacific. His assignments included San Diego, CA, Washington DC, Raleigh, NC, Bainbridge, MD and Portsmouth, VA. He will be buried with Military Honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL, on Friday, October 19th at 2:30pm.
