To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences. He was an incredible athlete and human being. He truly was the face of the Special Olympics and will genuinely be missed.

My sister was inspired by his success and learned to accept herself. On a daily basis, my family saw a change for the better and became much happier. I cannot thank him enough for all that he's done for people with special needs. He will be genuinely missed by the millions of people whose lives he's touched.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always. May the God of comfort and peace strengthen you during this difficult time.

Syndrome is also a gold medal freestyle winner when he was on his school swim team five years.

I remember that moment in 1968, when the needs of handicapped individuals were uppermost in our minds, including our family members. Michael Cusack - - - now THERE was a soldier, THERE was a warrior, THERE was a HERO!
