Pucci, Lawrence M. Chairman of Pucci Corporation, custom fashion designers based in Chicago, died on Thursday at the age of 89. In 1941 Pucci joined the family business founded in Chicago by his father in 1922. The Pucci Studio was the first tenant in today's landmark 333 N. Michigan Avenue Building where the business remains today run by his sister Caryl Pucci Rettaliata. Before joining his family business Pucci graduated from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University in Evanston and went on to attend Northwestern law school. Pucci established the Wedgewood Society of Chicago in memory of his late father. Every year the Wedgewood Society presents their "Illustrious Moderns" award, as well as presents speakers in the arts from all over the world. In 1992 Pucci founded the "I Will Award"; the Wedgewood Society of Chicago annually presents the award to a woman and man who display the spirit and energy that has made Chicago a great city. Pucci served as chairman of the boards of the Central Michigan Avenue Association and up until his passing the Chicago Cultural Mile Association. He served on the boards of the Chicago Arts Assembly, Mitchell Museum, Chicago Arts Council, Gastro-Intestinal Research Foundation, and the Little City Foundation. Pucci is survived by his lifelong business partner and sister, Caryl Pucci Rettaliata. Visitation 9:00 am Tuesday, September 8, 2009 until 10:00 am Funeral Mass at Holy Name Cathedral, 735 N. State St., Chicago, IL. Private Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials in his memory maybe made to Chicago Cultural Mile Association, 333 N.
