Kaplan, Morris 93, peacefully passed away at his home June 10, 2018 in Elizabethtown, KY. He was born in St. Louis, MO to Louis and Mollie Kaplan on November 9, 1924 and grew up in Chicago, IL. He was a US Army veteran of the European Theatre during WWII. He proudly served in the 104th Infantry Division (Timberwolves) as a combat medic, where he earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Morris and his late wife moved to Kentucky in 1967. In 1972, they built The Glendale Campground and in 1973, he established the Shelter Insurance Agency in Elizabethtown, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Temple Shalom in Louisville and a contributing member to AIPAC and WJC. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Modena; his beloved daughter, Karla (Dale) Mink; and his cherished sisters, Gussie (Eli) Davidson and Yetta (Abe) Cooperman. He is survived by his daughter, Dana (Silvio) Camodeca of Des Plaines, IL; his son, Steve (Ilene) Kaplan of Chicago, IL; his brothers, Samuel Kaplan of Lincolnwood, IL and Sol (Ellen) Kaplan of Northbrook, IL; his grandchildren, Ron (Elena) Sax of Austin, TX, Deborah (Paul) Hatchett of Austin, KY, Marnie Sax of Chicago, IL, Jeff Mappa of Chicago, IL, David Mink of Elizabethtown, KY, and Eric Kaplan of Chicago, IL; and four great-grandchildren, Shane Sax, Dylan Tomlin, Skyler Sax and Miles Hatchett. The family of Morris Kaplan, wish to extend our sincere thanks to Morris' niece, Robin (Karl) Springer of Glendale, KY. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14th at Menorah Gardens in Broadview, IL. A Celebration of Life to honor Morris will be 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21st at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, KY. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
