Sweeney, Eileen Died on September 7, 2018, just a few months before her 82nd birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Sweeney, and her twin sister, Maureen Cain. Eileen was a great sister to Kathleen Martin (late Robert), Michael Sweeney (Darlene), Nancy Sweeney and Patricia Fisher. She was a wonderful aunt to 9 nieces and nephews, and great-aunt to 18 cherished great-nieces and nephews. Eileen will be remembered by many for her warmth and generous spirit. She was adventurous, a world traveler, who loved Chicago's cultural life, especially theater. She was an avid reader, and loved to shop. Illness stopped her weekly trips the Loop but QVC became a new passion. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Gertrude Church (on Granville and Glenwood in Chicago) at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Misericordia Homes, 6300 N. Ridge, 60660 or St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Be at peace, Eileen. You will be missed!

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your dear sister. I I fondly remember the days on LaPorte Avenue when our families were friends and neighbors. Pat and I were playmates. I do, however, remember the twins as being very stylish and sophisticated. Sounds like she had a wonderful life! Love to all.

My sympathy to Eileen's family. I live at 6300 and got to know Maureen and Eileen over the years. Have missed Maureen and will miss Eileen. Both such classy ladies. Always loved their fashion, style and quick wit. Over time, as Eileen's health declined, I'd offer to help, however I could. Occasionally, she'd allow me to pick something up at Aldi's, or drop off a donation at Salvation Army. She was the type you wanted to do more for, but she never wanted to impose. Rest in peace, Eileen.
