Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Mecker); loving father of Laura (Mark) Simos, Gary (Sandra), Kirk (Kat) Levato and the late William Mackenzie; dear brother of Joseph "Jimbo" (Joyce), Ralph (Peggy), Phil, John (Sue) Levato and the late Carmen (Peggy), Gina Levato and the late Richard (Patricia) Mecker; proud grandfather of Neil, Darren Makenzie, Derek, Makenna Levato and the late Chris Breault; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 S. Central Ave., Oak Lawn, IL 60453 and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service 11:00 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, 9717 S. Kostner, Oak Lawn 60453. Interment private. I worked with Betty at Christ Hospital, and had met Sam many times. He was just the nicest fellow, had some funny stories and left us laughing. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

I can recall several summer nights playing touch football on 77th street with Mr. Levato, Bill McKenzie and often Keith Nordmeyer - a lot of fun. I feel fortunate having known Mr. Levato.
