Roger Baumann Obituary

My condolences to Roger’s family. Roger was my classmate and also a good friend that I won’t forget. He always had a smile.. or rather a smirk when he talked to me and I figured he was up to something. One time he said “Shall I compare you to a summer’s day” quote from Shakespeare that made me laugh. Typically Roger! My husband Al & I ran into him at a golf course and finished the round with him and the last time I saw him was at a family party that we crashed. He was always the perfect host!!

Roger was a good friend of mine in high school. Always good for a laugh. We had a lot of good times together.
After high school we sort of went our separate ways and only saw each other at the occasional class reunion. He is one of those people in my life that I will never forget. Rest in peace Roger.

Roger and my lifetime friendship goes back to our roots in Forestville. In the 1950s his dad would hire me to do field work in the spring and help with baling hay in the summer. Although we went to different grade schools we were classmates in high school making many memories (Roger could replace a broken fan belt on his Corvair in 30 seconds). After high school in 1963 we shared an apartment with my older (and wiser) brother Bernie (Sarge) who kept us in line. We stayed in contact after I married Diana and he moved to St. Louis. Not every day, week or month, but anytime we did we could pick up like it was yesterday. I'm going to miss him.
Coincidentally Diana met him before I did, they and their mothers were in the same maternity room back in February 1945.

I first met Roger while hanging out with Chris shortly after graduating high school and through our college years while Chris was studying aviation at Parks. I recall Roger being an intelligent individual that had a big heart and he was a fantastic listener all the while.

I could see that Roger was always there for his family and he always knew the right thing to say as he provided excellent wisdom to anyone who was willing to accept it from him. Roger you will be deeply missed, never forgotten. Quite simply you are among the best of your generation.

Roger was a great friend and business partner. Wise, witty and very competitive. Roger used his great talent and knowledge of the insurance industry to help many small transport companies be successful. Peg and I are grateful to have known Roger. We will miss him. Love, Lynn and Peg Griswold.

Roger was a friend and also stood up at our wedding on July 19, 1969. His son flew down to Madison with Roger to be at my husband's funeral January 20, 2017. We lost touch after my husband Bernie passed. Sorry to hear the news. My sympathies to all the family.

My husband grew up on the farm across the road from Roger’s family. The best neighbors. This was in Forestville, Wi. I think of all of you often. Praying for Roger. May God give him eternal rest. Judy Vandertir

Roger was a classmate and the youngest in our class. He was a very kind and thoughtful person and will be missed. My sympathies to his family.

I’ll hear him saying my name in his Cheesehead accent forever. “Jowey” Rest In Peace my friend, your life’s been a shining example to us all. Then just when the Starter in Heaven thought he’d seen it all, up steps Roger to the first tee. Oh boy! May all your putts be straight in Roger, you will be missed.

One thing I like to remember about Roger was his ministry to truckers who would stop at highway truck stops on Sunday mornings. Roger would put together a service for them of songs and scripture. He was a good brother-in-law.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Roger was a very christian and prayed for me to get better in my life.

Roger was not only a great neighbor but also a great friend. We played golf occasionally and enjoyed practicing our putting and chipping together on the Lake Forest 16th green behind our homes. During our many conversations I found him to be a great listener and one of the nicest men I ever met. He was a gentle soul and will be missed by all those who took time to get to know him.

Roger was a great supporter of my husband's Trucker Church Ministry and First Step Back Home homeless ministry. We'll miss our conversations and memories shared whenever we got together. His greatest adventure has now begun!

Great fun loving friend. Will miss the high stake golf games he and brother Dan always got me into. Also will miss his and Chris’s “business/golf” trips to see us in Florida. I knew him as a concerned and compassionate person. Hope your shooting par up there with Jesus.

Roger was one of a kind and such a long time friend of mine. So many fun times on golf course, card table or a drink after all of those times.
I will miss my dear friend, a wonderful man.

I will miss you my good friend

You always treated me like a son and I always considered you a father to me. I will never forget the many, many lessons you taught me and I will always be grateful that you met my father at the lake that weekend.

The talks we had. The laughs we had. The golf we played. Cheeseheads.

We butted heads once on our last trip together to Wisconsin, due to my short temper and feeling sorry for myself. At your direction, instead of all driving home together you and I walked back to the hotel together, just you and I, I’ll never forget it. It was the greatest walk and talk I’ve ever had. It was soon after my divorceand I was bitter.you knew I was hurting and you forgave me for being quick to anger. You taught me so much.

Please don’t forget me. I will never forget you. I love you Rog.
