Robert Dodson Obituary

                Mr. Robert Dunn Dodson, age 80, of Cedartown, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at a local hospital.

                Mr. Dodson was born in Miami, Florida on June 16, 1942, son of the late Robert Lowell Dodson and the late Marian Dunn Dodson.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Lowell Dodson, and by a half-brother, John Whitley.  Mr. Dodson was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.  He graduated from Southern Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.  He worked for Chickapee Manufacturing in Cornelia, Georgia and then retired from the Hon Company in Cedartown.  He was an active member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church and the Rome/Floyd YMCA.  Mr. Dodson was an avid tennis player and golfer.

                Survivors include his wife, Shirley Johnson Dodson, to whom he was married on February 24, 1963; a daughter, Teri Dodson Minor (James); two grandsons, Robert David Minor and James Bailey Minor (Emily); a great grandson, Calvin Thomas; a favorite aunt, Josephine Rice.

                A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, at 11:30am at Second Avenue United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Dr. Millie Kim and the Rev. Dr. Beth Sanders will officiate.

                The family will receive friends at Second Avenue United Methodist Church on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 10am until the service time.

                In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions my be made to Second Avenue United Methodist Church or the Rome/Floyd YMCA.
