Leonard Groves, 84, of Snyder, TX, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Austin, Texas.
A graveside services for Mr. Groves will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 2 o'clock PM with Pastor Natalie Raybal officiating. Services are under the direction of Nell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Leonard was born on October 27, 1937, in Snyder, TX. He was a graduate of Hermleigh
High School. He married Patricia Ann Wyatt in 1959 in Snyder, TX. and they moved to Morton, Tx to make their home. He attended South Plains College in Levelland where he was on the Rodeo Team. He was Champion Bull Rider of the Texas Tech NIRA Rodeo in 1960. Leonard served one term as the Cochran County Tax Assessor/Collector. Leonard farmed and ranched in the Morton area and was owner/operator of Grace Fertilizer and Chemicals. In 1985 he took a full- time job as Ranch Manager of the Gordvine Ranch south of Morton. Leonard and Patsy then moved to Jal, New Mexico as a Ranch Manager and then to Ira, Texas where he started a career in crop adjusting for Rain and Hail Crop Insurance. After retirement they moved back to Snyder, TX. Leonard was active in Morton Little League Baseball, Cochran County Livestock Show and Association and the Rodeo Association. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Morton.
He is survived by his Wife, Patsy Groves of Snyder, Tx
One Daughter Patti Kittrell and husband Kenny, of Lubbock, Tx
One Son Jeff Groves and wife Deidra, of Seymour, Tx
Three Brothers, Arlon Groves of Houston, TX, Jimmy McMillan of Snyder, Tx and Randy McMillan of Hurst, TX.
Four Grandchildren, Tanner Park of Rotan, TX, Lauren Park of Lubbock, TX, Trey
Groves and wife Rachel and Shelby Urbanczyk and husband Kyler all of Seymour, TX. Six Great Grandchildren, Tanley Park of Rotan, TX, Cooper Groves, Stockton Groves, Adaline Urbanczyk, Lyla Urbanczyk and Nash Groves, all of Seymour, TX.
He was preceded in death by his Father Robert Groves and his Mother Thaba McMillan, his sister Billie Sue Steward of Snyder, Tx and one brother Lindy McMillan of Austin, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House at www.rmhc.org.

I am sad to hear of Leonard’s passing. My dad, Doyle Scott, sure thought a lot of Leonard! I will miss him too, having known him during all the years I worked at Higginbotham’s. So sorry for your loss.
