Kenneth Wayne Gilpin, Sr., 68, of Stanfill passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard with his family by his side. Born August 31, 1953 in Harlan County, he worked as a coal miner and believed in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil Gilpin and Jeanette Day Gilpin; and two children, Kenneth Wayne Gilpin, Jr. and Randy Lee Gilpin.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Katrina Jones Gilpin, Evarts; two children, Angela Gilpin, Stanfill; and Basil Gilpin, London; three step-children, Jeffery Burkhart, Knoxville, TN; Kimberly Burkhart; Harlan and Lace Boggs, Harlan; one brother, James (Bimbo) Gooden, Wallins; two sisters, Lisa Gooden, Coldiron; and Judy Hurt and husband, James, Lexington, KY. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in the chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home with funeral service starting at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Roger Colinger officiating.
Burial will be in the White Star Cemetery at Dayhoit with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Loyall Funeral Home is in charge of his arrangements.
