Rieder, John Wayne, 70, passed away on Wednesday January 29th, 2025, from an unexpected heart attack. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all in his life in this earthly world.
John is the beloved husband for twenty-four years of Weiwei Chien, proud father of Charles (Kourtney) Rieder and Catherine (Forrest) Rieder; amazing Agong of Saelir, Ryver Rieder and Oscar Bacigalupi. Preceded in death by father “Tuna” Charlie and mother Margie Rieder. John was the brother of James (Gaylyn) Henry, Janese Henry, Robert Henry, Jerry Henry, Marinell (Late William) Bantel, and Charlene (Michael) Ramer; dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.
John grew up in St. Louis, was an accomplished athlete in Lafayette high school. He received a wrestling scholarship and completed his bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University. He also was a certified nurse from St. Louis University Nursing School. Since 2009, John worked as a Lead Design Research & Strategy Specialist at Wells Fargo Advisors where he achieved much with his dedication to excellence and greatly contributed to helping advisors serve customers.
More important than his professional accomplishments, John demonstrated profound love for his wife, family and friends. His zest for life included his passions for art, painting, writing, history, religion, martial arts, technology, and travel. In addition, he loved the SEC and never missed cheering on his LSU Tigers! Geaux Tigers!
Beneath John’s warrior spirit and toughness, he had a tender heart and protected those he cherished with unwavering love and devotion. For those who knew him best, he was steadfast and true in his belief. He believed in God and lived with “Love bears all things”1 Corinthians 13:7. His love was immeasurable, his spirit was unbreakable. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and a love that will never fade.

Heaven has received a very special soul.
My heartfelt condolences to your family and everyone who had the great fortune to know you! When I was at LSU you were the first person to recognize and acknowledged me as not just a wrestler but as a friend! RIP

I know Mr. Rieder as Kat's dad. He was always there for her, good times and bad. Personally, I will remember him for his kindness and wicked sense of humor. My heart breaks for the family's loss, you all are in my heart.
