Gordon Taft, U.S. Army (Ret.) Obituary

Gordon Randall “Randy” Taft, age 72, of Harker Heights, passed from this life on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen. A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors will take place at 1:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Randy was born on September 20, 1952, to Gordon and Agnes Taft in Decatur, Alabama. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, enlisting in 1973 and dedicating over 20 years of service before retiring in 2000.

Randy enjoyed watching Blake play baseball and Cody play his music. He also had a passion for motorcycles, often riding his Harley-Davidson Sportster across the country with his brother-in-law, Dennis Drake and playing golf with his brothers-in-law, Ronnie Morris and Robbie Duke.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Agnes Taft, and two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Morris and Dennis Drake.

He is survived by: His Sons: David “Blake” Taft Sr. (wife, Amber) and Nicholas “Cody” Taft (wife, Desiree) and Sisters: Peggy Turney (husband, Shannon), June Lang, Judy Morris, Elaine Drake, and Kathy Duke (husband, Robbie) and his Grandchildren: Joclyn Taft, Jaclyn Taft, David Taft Jr., and Nicholas Taft Jr. and several nieces and nephews

Randy will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
