Carolyn Fay Favaron Kahrs, aged 84, of Slidell, Louisiana, departed this world on January 22, 2025. She was born in Gros Tête, Louisiana to Mary Oubre Favaron and Reno Favaron. However, her stepfather, Frank Thebault of New Orleans, Louisiana, should receive credit for being a true father to her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Raymond Paul Kahrs, her three children: Tiffany (Andrew) Pollack, Joseph (Madeleine) Kahrs, and Michael (Kasey) Kahrs, eight grandchildren: August Mitkevicius, William Kahrs, Eva Kahrs, Rosy Pollack, Charlotte Kahrs, Brodie Kahrs, Daisy Pollack, Oaklee Kahrs and her half-sister Sherry (Favaron) Tilton. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Favaron, and sister, Ann Davenport , and three half sisters: Donna Favaron, Brenda Favaron, and Hilda (Favaron) Lynch.
Carolyn was the definition of a spitfire. Her husband affectionately referred to her as his "blue-eyed devil." A fiery redhead, she truly lived her life with the vibrance and intensity of a flame. She met Ray in June of 1965 at K&B #10 on Napoleon and St. Charles, where they both worked. On July 30, 1966, they were married. They were told that K&B romances never last—but 58 years of marriage proved otherwise.
They were married for 17 years before adopting their first child, Tiffany. Two years later, they adopted Joey. Then, at the age of 46, Carolyn received the surprise of her life—she was pregnant with their youngest child, Michael.
Carolyn was born to be a mother. She cherished her children, nurtured their passions, and was ever-present in every aspect of their lives. She spent countless hours driving them to sports practices, dance school, modeling school, piano lessons, and Girl and Boy Scout meetings, attending every game and recital with unwavering pride. She even worked in the cafeteria at Our Lady of Lourdes, where they attended elementary school, until her youngest moved on to high school. Even then, she remained deeply involved in her son’s ROTC events.
Carolyn had a gift for making friends wherever she went, lighting up any room with her smile and laughter. When her children grew up, she became just as devoted to her grandchildren, playing an active role in their lives.
A Funeral Mass will be held on March 8, 2025, at St. Genevieve Church, 58203 LA-433, Slidell, LA 70460. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM, then a Celebration of Life in the reception hall from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
