It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Aston D. Samuels, Sr. He was born July 9, 1949, to the late Lillian Henry in Saint Ann, Jamaica.
Aston, affectionately known as “Will”, gained his heavenly wings peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother, grandmother and sister.
Will migrated to the United States at the age of 23 from Jamaica to have a better life, leaving behind a son Rowan (Dave) Samuels. He spent some time in Clearwater, Florida, then moved to Hudson and Poughkeepsie, New York where he worked on the railroad as a trackman. Later, he met Gloria Bland through his brother Cleveland Samuels on travel to visit in Richmond, Virginia.
Still living in Poughkeepsie, Aston and Gloria had two children: Aston D. “Dennis” Samuels, Jr. and Tia L. “Tea Pot” Samuels.
Aston purchased a food truck after retiring from the railroad and successfully ran his food truck in Poughkeepsie. He entered his food truck in the State Fair in Richmond and that is where he made his home.
As time passed, Aston sold his food truck and purchased a power washer. He started his business where he gained plenty of clientele until he retired in 2022.
Aston was a very hard worker and the best father he knew to be. He had a heart to give, loved to travel and dress nicely. He met and made a lot of friends along the way.
As years went by, Aston slowly started becoming ill. He was being taken care of by his daughter Tia “Tea Pot” then later by his son Aston “Dennis” Jr. They both were by his side until he peacefully passed away.
Aston leaves behind to cherish his memories three children, Rowan “Dave” Samuels, Aston “Dennis” Samuels, Jr. and Tia “Tea Pot” Samuels; five sisters, Gloria, Evande, Merita, Vera and Ionie; one brother, Cleveland two grandchildren, ZaShawn “Za” and Shagaye; two great grandchildren, Jumari and Jenari; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
