I've known you since you were 14, jeez time flies. I can say this you have always been there for me and my family. The time a semi truck hit our family on Blue Island, don't know how you did it but you were the first person there. I was locked in between my car door and a pole. Y screamed I can't get you out! The ex was jammed in the driver side. You stayed with me until they cut me out. I will forever remember you for that. You have been there for my 3 kids whenever they needed you. I will thank you forever. I will always remember my birthday roses at Unit 172. Love you kid. RIP Captain Parra

My heart breaks to hear of Art's passing, he and I worked together at 013 and a very supportive friend. The last time we got together was at Ralph's cigar shop on Taylor Street. He will be missed by many. Love you Art, we will meet again. Lillian

Mr. Parra was a loving but tough father like most are when it comes to family. My memory of him was when I had come over on a summer early evening and he told me not to be shy and eat.....that I was like family. That meant alot to me back then. Always opening up to welcome others. You will be missed. You are home now.

I am absolutely shocked at Art’s passing. I can remember going through the academy together and remaining friends all these years. I can recall all the kids as they were growing up. Art was a very talented and dedicated cop, fiercely protective of his family and other officers. Our loss is heavens gain. Godspeed my friend. May the good Lord grant comfort to the family.

First met Arthur when I worked the relief 10th District Tact Team around 1975. There was a fight in a bar and one of our Tact Officers Alex Karaczun was holding an offender down on the ground when another offender was just ready to stab Officer Karaczun, when Art (a Civilian) tackled him...saving the Officer's life. Our team kinda adopted Art then and it has been a great career for him. He even worked for me as a Sergeant in 009 and was quite adept at computers. I consider Art a friend and he will be missed by many!
