Kiszka, Francis J. "Frank" (Coach Kiszka), age 65, suddenly, late of South Holland, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at his residence. Devoted son of the late Irwin and Cecilia. Brother to the late Mary Ann Kiszka. Cousin to the late Larry Kmiec. Coach Kiszka is survived by aunt Emily Burkiewicz, cousins Frank, Michael and Steven Burkiewicz, Lucille Stramacchia, Patrick Fiala and Anita. Close affection to his cousin Joseph (Nadine) Owczarzak, and his daughters and their families, Jodine (Jim) Easterhouse, Jill, Jimmy, and Jessica Easterhouse, Jennifer (A.J.) Pomponi, T. J. and Grace Pomponi, Jamie (Tony) Hudik. Coach Kiszka was a 1957 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. Keeping statistics for the Caravan football team since 1968, and the Caravan Hockey team, Coach Kiszka became a permanent employee of Mt. Carmel High School in the early 80's. He took over as Moderator for the Hockey program, and later became the statistician for the Caravan basketball team and the Caravan baseball team, and was an assistant baseball coach for ten years. He produced the annual media guides for baseball, basketball, football, hockey and wrestling, coordinated the football program's annual ad book, and was the primary media contact for Mt. Carmel's athletic programs. Coach K. helped all of the summer sports camps for grade school children, promoted Mt. Carmel's boxing program, and worked tirelessly behind the scenes for the promotion of Mt. Carmel High School. Coach Kiszka was the Alumni Association's "Man of the Year" in 1978, named to the "Caravan Hall of Fame" in 1986, was given the "Spirit of Mount Carmel" awarded in 1998, by the "Big Event" Committee, and was selected as the "Man of the Decade" for the 1990's at Mt. Carmel's Centennial Celebration, in 2000, held at Navy Pier. The four loves of his life were: Mount Carmel High School, reading, the Cubbies and his Polka Music. Coach Kiszka's presence, love and dedication to the students, teachers, coaches, staff, and the entire Carmelite Community, will be sorely missed. Visitation Tuesday from 2 until 9 p.m. at Thornridge Funeral Home (Janusz Family Funeral Service), 15801 S. Cottage Ave., four blocks North of 162nd St. (Rte. 6), Dolton/South Holland. Lying in state Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Carmel High School, 6410 S. Dante Ave., Chicago, concelebrated by Rev. Carl Markelz, O.Carm and Rev. David Dillon, O.Carm. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City.
