Evans, Eva M. Was a fifth child born to the union of Earnest and Lena M. Monroe. As Eva was growing up in Friendship Baptist Church, she graduated from Lucy Flowers High Shcool. Eva attended Dunbar and Washburn Trade Schools for Tailoring and became a very accomplished seamstress. Eva began her work career at Western Electric Company in 1945 and retired in 1982 after thirty-seven years. She married Mr. Earl Evans, Sr. and from that union came her only child, Earl Evans, Jr. After joining Friendship Baptist Church in the late 1920's, Eva became a faithful member and in 1956, she joined Usher Ministry #2 member and served over fifty years with this auxiliary. She served as an officer in this Ministry for many years including President and Corresponding Secretary. Mrs. Evans was known for her sharpness in dress and her love of shopping. When she was not in her usher's uniform, she was adorned in the latest styles with shoes and handbags to match. By example, she showed many of us how to dress and conduct our lives. For this, we loved and appreciated her. Mrs. Evans had a beautiful and warm smile and in her younger years, had a natural way of walking that would bring a smile to your face. Mrs. Evans loved Friendship Baptist Church and remained steadfast to all its past ministers, including the late Reverend Drane, Reverend Davis, and Reverend Hall, and served faithfully under the auspices of the special Reverend Reginald Bachus until her death. Mrs. Evans leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Earl Evans, Jr.; granddaughter, Jennifer Evans; brother, Robert Monroe; nephew and niece, Jeronne and Betty Johnson; the Monroe's, the Johnson's, the Glasper's, the Evans', special friends, Bessie Marks, Viola Wilson, Ruby Lucas, Josephine Justice, Alcolver Brown, Jency Gregory, and a host of family and friends.
