Stachurski Sr., Thomas Joseph 75,passed away on December 8, 2010, from natural causes at his homein Coral Springs, Florida. Thomaswas born in Chicago, Illinois on May 17, 1935, where he graduated fromChicago Vocational High School in 1953. In July of 1955 Thomas enlisted in the Army and was a member of the distinguished Old Guard,serving in Washington, D.C.under President Eisenhower from 1955 to 1957. In June 1956 Thomas married Joan Alice Niespodziany at Immaculate Conception Church in South Chicago. After his discharge from the Army in July 1957, he returned to Chicago, and was employed by Illinois Bell, where he worked until 1972, when he and his wife and three children moved to South Florida.In Florida, he accepted a similar position with Southern Bell, where he worked until his retirement in 1988. Thomas had a natural talent and ear for music and played many musical instruments, especially the harmonica and keyboard, and passionately enjoyed the listening, creating and playing of it, all of his life.As a veteran, he remained a patriot and loyal advocate of respect for his country and the military. He is preceded in death by his mother, Tessie Stachurski. He is survived by Joan Stachurski, his wife for 41 years, his three children, Deborah (Richard) DeCrane, Thomas Stachurski Jr., Kenneth (Kelli) Stachurski, and five grandchildren, Amanda, Julie, Alex, Katharine and Paul.A memorial service and interment will be held in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Illinois. The familyrequests that in lieu of flowers,a donation in memory of Thomas, be madeto the veterans charity of your choice.
