Dassow, Shirley Jane 85, passed Saturday, February 27, 2010. Born December 3, 1924 in Chicago to Lester and Florence Wallack. Shirley graduated from Blaine Elementary and Schurz High School. She served many North Center organizations, such as the Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW, Bell Elementary, and the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, sporting events, making people laugh, and socializing. Survivors include her daughter Deborah Dassow; son Jack (Sue) Dassow; Grandsons Adam Dassow; Andrew Dassow and John Dassow; and Great-Granddaughter Isabel Dassow. She was preceded in death by her husband John William Dassow, and her son David Dassow. No formal services or visitiations, however donations will be accepted at www.shirleydassowscholarship.com in hopes to fund annual Educational Scholarships via the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club. May her spirit of spreading humor and giving of herself to others live-on in each of us…

To the Dassow family my deepest and heartfelt condolences. I have many fond memories of Mrs. Dassow as a child growing up on Byron St. One thing I will NEVER forget is her sloppy joe's!!! I have never nor do I believe I ever will taste anything quite like them. God bless. May the feelings of loss you have now be replaced with warm memories soon. Love, Ellen
