Dickman B.S., M.A.S., M.S., Marvin J. Adoring husband of Susie (nee Merlander) Dickman for 47 years; cherished father of Alyssa Dickman, Rabbi Reni (Aaron Nessel) Dickman; adored zayde of Gabriel and Tori. Marvin spent his entire career of 35 years as a CPA working at Arthur Andersen & Co. He was admitted to the partnership in 1976 using his expertise in small business and tax. Upon his retirement from AA&Co., he studied for a degree in Jewish Sudies at the University of Chicago. He then taught Jewish History at several synagogues, and JCC's. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Protective Agency, The Museum of Broadcast Communications, Olin Sang Ruby Union Institute, Congregation B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim, The National Board of URJ, (formerly UAHC), Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion Board of Overseers, President, Board of Jewish Education of Metropolitan Chicago 1989-1991, Illinois Humanities Council (appointed by Gov. Quinn). Presently, he was a board member of The Chicago Jewish Historical Society, The Ezra Consortium of the American Jewish Archives, and The Chicago Dramatists. An old-radio enthusiast, he has enjoyed giving programs on the "Good Old Days." Services Thursday 10 a.m. at Congregation B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim, 1201 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield. Dear Susie and family, Marv is still remembered fondly especially when I think or talk about my years at U of Illinois, , WPGU, or hear music from "Breakfast at Tiffany´s ". He was a good friend to me and I was lucky to have him as a friend.
