I read today's Tribune about 9/11/01. What really brought tears however was to see June's obituary. I want to hug her, laugh with her and say goodbye. It is just hard to understand when good people have bad things happen. I remember when June came in with her hat from Peru that covered her head as her hair was growing back. She had good spirits and never, ever complained. She loved life and people. Last year, on her annual visit she told me about her new diagnosis. We hugged and even cried a little together. I just never expected this so suddenly, and I guess held hope that she would beat this, as she did the prior illness.
I have been June's doctor for over 20 years and will never forget her spirit, "funk" and kindness.
