I had really bad senioritis and an inability to get to his early morning class on time in my second semester of senior year. Despite this, I still learned so many philosophical lessons from Mr. Korner. He was quirky, patient, and kindhearted. He never once admonished me for coming into his class late (8AM class), even when I arrived 5-10 minutes before the class ended. One of his lessons that has stayed with me was against cyncism, which he detected among many students during a lot of the thought experiments (e.g., a plane is about to crash but you can decide who dies and who doesn't based on their personal characteristics). He told us that some people go through life like an anchor, pulling down everything and everyone they encounter, and that we should not be like that, but rather create beauty and see the humanity in each and every individual. A wonderful human being who has touched many. RIP.

Thinking about his FOWCSD worksheet (again) and decided to google his name. Didn't know he had passed...kind and gentle soul is right. Rest in peace, sir.

I remember sitting in Mr. Korner's English class at Whitney Young. He truly was one the greatest English teachers and he was always concerned with the students grasping the subject that was being taught. Praying for the entire family.

Was a great English teacher and focused on assuring that each of his students learned from his philosophies. May god bless the Korner family at this mourning moment.
