Bowery, Joseph Age 89 years, of the Illinois Veterans Home-LaSalle, formerly of Downers Grove and Cicero. At peace in Christ on October 18, 2014. World War II veteran. Beloved husband of the late Santa Marie (Ledone); and is survived by his sisters, Shirley (Fred) Smith and Thelma Bowery; his brother-in-law, Clyde Hallowell; his daughters, Mary K. (Timothy Pruyn) Przybyla, Jeanne (Victor) Montoya; son, John Bowery; and daughter-in-law, Eileen Bowery. Joe is also survived by his fond grandchildren, Joe Przybyla, Nicholas (Angela) Madsen, Maureen (Mike) Solberg, Tony Madsen, Patrick Bowery, Bob Przybyla, Dan Bowery and Brittany Bowery; as well as five great-grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his oldest son, Charles Bowery; daughter-in-law, Caryl (Culbertson) Bowery, wife of John; brother, Theodore Bowery; sister, Ann (Bowery) Hallowell; as well as his parents, Joseph and Catherine (Linevitch) Bowery. Visitation Monday, October 20 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Adams-Winterfield and Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St., Downers Grove, Illinois 60515. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 111 South Cass Avenue, Westmont, Illinois 60559. Interment private, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: Wounded Warriors Project or the Veterans of Foreign War.
