Dear Althoffs of McHenry,
I am writing on behalf of myself and the Althoffs of the South Beloit, IL area to express our sincere sympathy at the passing of Jim. I know he was an exemplary family man and pillar of the community. Our father John of South Beloit IL. passed away in February 2010 and we understand he was Jim's second cousin due to the fact that their great-grandfathers were brothers. Jim and John knew each other through involvement in local education. Our father was Superintendent of Schools in South Beloit for over 25 years. I met Jim and did business with him when I worked for AT&T in the early 90's. I found him to be forthright and knowledgeable and a humble person despite all his success as a business man and involved citizen. As the President of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce I have been asked many times if I was related to your family. I have always been proud to say that I am. My job has taken me to many places throughout the state where Jim's name has been mentioned with great respect. Senator Pam and I have met and I know how highly regarded she is in the state legislature. Thanks largely to Jim the Althoff name is a respected one in Illinois and especially in your community. Please know that we are thinking about your family and are keeping Jim and you in our prayers.
Sincerely,
Tom Althoff, Lisle, IL
