Symonds, Jr., Irving R. Irving Ralph Symonds, Jr. Age 77 of Highland Park and Highwood. At Peace In Christ Monday, May 21, 2012 at home after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 8, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Irving R. and Florence M. (Sutton) Symonds, Sr. The founder of Symonds Funeral Homes and The Lakes Crematory, Chicago, Highwood, Grayslake and Lake Villa he and his family have operated the family funeral home business since 1969. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1954. Wright Jr. College 1957 and Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1953 at the age of 18, serving in the 801st General Hospital the 171st and 719th Medical Detachments. He served his country for 26 years retiring as a Captain. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Adeline Katherine (nee Faltum); his children, Irving R. (Magdalena) Symonds III of Lake Forest, Mark A. (Deborah) Symonds of Chicago, Katherine J. (Ronald) Salyards of Mundelein, Matthew (Laura) Symonds of Grayslake and Daniel W. Symonds of Chicago; eleven grandchildren, Magdalena Katherine, Erika Eleonora, Elizabeth Renee, Mark Andrew Jr., Rebecca Lynne, Penelope Anne, Luke Scott and Matthew James Jr. Symonds, Victoria Mae, Roseanna Grace and Katherine Genevieve Salyards. He is preceded in death by his son, John Scott Symonds on November 23, 2007 and his brother, Robert Neal Symonds in 1985 Friends may call on Friday, May 25, 2012 and Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 2:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood. Lying in State Sunday, May 27, 2012 from 1:30 P.M. until Services at 2:30 P.M. at Christ Church Lake Forest, 100 N. Waukegan Road, (Rt. 43 & 60) Lake Forest.
