Figiel, Gregory Leonard 62, of Elgin, passed away peacefully in his home on June 21, 2016, surrounded by his friends and family. Born October 26, 1953, in Chicago, he was the loving son of Anna (nee Kuryla) and the late Leonard Figiel. Greg was a member of the DuPage County Sheriff's Department for 25 years serving as an officer, detective, and S.W.A.T. prior to his retirement in 2003. He was survived by his beloved Joanna. He was the devoted father of Michael (Meghan) and Meagan; dear brother of Jeffrey (Cathy); and fond grandfather ("Papa") of Jack and Kate. A memorial mass celebrating his life will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 215 Thomas More Drive, Elgin, IL 60123 on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at the church.
