Grady, Catherine Native of Keyfield, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. Beloved wife of late James for 46 years. Devoted mother of Jim (Georgette) and loving grandmother of Jerry and Joy; dear sister of the late Mary, Delia, Peter, John, Lucy, Martha, Francis, Thomas and Josie: loving daughter of William and Mary Burke; and dearest aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. In her early years, she worked on the family farm and took care of her mother who had a prolonged illness. In 1952, she emigrated to Chicago and worked and volunteered her time at area hospitals. Later she worked at St. Catherine's Parish in Oak Park and then for the CTA. She was a devout Catholic who had a strong faith and a charitable heart. She donated to many religious organizations, children's homes and charities for the disabled. She enjoyed making people laugh with a funny story from her youth or an old Irish saying. She enjoyed watching comedies like "All in the Family" and "The Golden Girls". She was a voracious reader who read countless biographies and the newspaper on a daily basis. She also enjoyed Irish music and dancing and met her husband at an Irish Dance Hall in Chicago. To her surprise, she found out that he had lived only a few miles from her back home in Ireland. She died peacefully with our prayers and love surrounding her. She will be remembered as a doting mother and grandmother who loved her family, worked hard, suffered through illness without complaint and led a good life. Visitation at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge, Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Monday 9:15 a.m. to St. Eugene Church in Chicago with Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
