Carol Ann Piecyk-Obregon Obituary
Piecyk-Obregon, Carol Ann Carol Ann Piecyk-Obregon was born March 6, 1953, and entered eternal life with Christ on November 29, 2017. Carol was a shining example of bravery and dignity as she battled courageously against lung cancer. She leaves behind a loving husband, Jacinto, and three sons: Michael, Elliot, and Kurt. Carol first became a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at South Chicago Community Hospital and later completed her degree to become a Registered Nurse at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago, IL. As an RN, Carol tirelessly cared for patients in the intensive care unit, emergency room, and critical care unit at Mt. Sinai. Yet, her true passion in medical care came from working as an orthopedic nurse in the operating room: she worked in that department for almost 18 years. Carol was known for her charisma and sharp wit, even in the most stressful situations. While working at Mt. Sinai Hospital, she met her soulmate Jacinto Obregon who was completing his surgical residency there. Jacinto and Carol married May 24, 1986 and together they started their family. Carol decided to now devote the rest of her life to raising her three sons. Family, for Carol, was the most important aspect of her life. Carol enjoyed many hobbies: she loved to garden, she was an avid reader, she was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. During the summer months Carol often enjoyed planting flowers: especially peonies and pink roses. During the winter months Carol crocheted beautiful Christmas ornaments and warm blankets. When family and friends visited they could always expect a warm household and a delicious meal. For the holidays Carol would go above and beyond to create gourmet meals. Some of her family and friends even affectionately called her the "Polish Martha Stewart." Carol will be greatly missed by her two loving sisters, Sharon Harkabus and Diana Piecyk. She will be fondly remembered by her uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday 2:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Monday 9:15 a.m. from Orland Funeral Home, 9900 W. 143rd Street to St. Francis of Assisi Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Good Shepherd Cemetery.
