Theus, Bessie (nee Bond) Age 80, peacefully passed away on June 21, 2013 at the Horizons Hospice ward at Rush Hospital. She was a long time resident of the Roseland Community in Chicago, Illinois. She leaves behind three children, Phyllis Theus, Walter Theus Jr. and his wife Lourdes, Caroline Theus Swinney; four grandchildren, Marcus Theus, Tessie Marie Coatie, Erica Swinney, Brett Swinney and his wife Emma Hospelhorn; and one great-grandchild, Shaylan Jones; along with many nieces and nephews and cousins and friends throughout the country. She is survived by her sister, Christine Bond Howard and brothers, Joe Bond and his wife Georgia and Clifton Bond and his wife Bernice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Theus Sr. and her son, Bernard Theus. Bessie retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992. She was an active volunteer with a nearby Chicago Association for Retarded Citizens (CARC) workshop. Services will be held at Leak and Sons Funeral Chapels located at 7838 S. Cottage Grove, Chicago. Visitation will begin on Friday from 6-10 p.m. and continuing on Saturday at 10 a.m. The service will start at 11a.m. Interment will be at Burr Oak Cemetery located at 4400 W. 127th in Alsip, Illinois.
