Vedder, Jr., B. Blair 87, of Glenview died Friday evening, September 7, 2012 at Pioneer Farm, Sheridan IL. Blair was born December 4, 1924 in Chicago to Beverly Blair and Helen (Morse) Vedder. In WWII he served his country as a Lieutenant in the US Navy. He married Geraldine (Bovbjerg) February 1, 1947 in Chicago. Geraldine died February 26, 1994. On June 10, 1995 he married Mary (Lamb Hoaglund) at Pioneer Farm. He was Vice Chairman of Needham, Harper Worldwide, advertising (now DDB-Omnicom), retiring in 1984, and later a Director of McDonald's Corp. 1988-2000. In 1974 he purchased Pioneer Farm in Sheridan IL, which became a cherished retreat for Blair and his family and where he was "Papa" to three generations. He was an avid sailor and one of the longest standing members of the Chicago Yacht Club and an "Old Goat." He is survived by his wife, Mary Vedder of Glenview; his son, Nicholas Vedder (Susan Heckbert) of Mercer Island, WA; his daughter, Nancy Vedder (Glenna O'Doul) of Skokie; his son, Richard (Barbara) Vedder of Ridgewood, NJ; four grandchildren, Katherine Vedder, Nicholas R. Vedder, Andrew Vedder, Hanna Vedder, and 10 step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Geraldine and his sister, Nancy Vedder Quirk. Interment of cremains will be at the Sheridan Cemetery on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Midwest Hospice & Palliative Care Center (www.carecenter.org) or Ronald McDonald House Charities (www.rmhc.org). A celebration of life will be held at Schram Memorial Chapel, 1799 Patriot Boulevard, Glenview, IL 60026 on Saturday, October 6 at 10 AM.
