Luke, Alexander William "Bill" August 16, 2017, age 92. Beloved husband of Andrea (nee Hallin) for 61 years; dear father of Kristin (Patrick) O'Connor and Alan Luke; treasured grandfather of Katherine O'Connor; loving brother of Rosemary (James) Hitchner and Francis "Pop" (Mary) Luke; cherished grandparent to Justin Teach, Ryan O'Connor, Lauren O'Connor and Brittany Teach; longtime friend of Lee Whittington; fond uncle, cousin and friend to many. Graduate of DePaul University with a double Master's Degree in Voice and Music Education. Taught music for 39 years in the Homewood Elementary Schools and was Choir Director at St. Paul Community Church for over 35 years. Awarded a year-long sabbatical to study in Europe, including the ORFF Institute in Austria and the University of London. Inducted into the Homewood Hall of Fame in 2014. Served in the Illinois National Guard and was a 39-year resident of Homewood. Memorial visitation Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. at Tews Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Hwy., Homewood. Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 27, 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Community Church, 18200 S. Dixie Hwy, Homewood. What a wonderful teacher he was. Mr. Luke was always enthusiastic about music. My prayers are with his family.
