My father, Howard Olsen, worked with Bill at the Wrigley company for many years. As a result of Bill's encouragement and efforts on our behalf, my brother, Brian (Class of 1964), and I (Class of 1970) both followed Bill's footsteps and attended Princeton. For that and for his friendship with my father, I will remember him fondly.

Dear Mrs. Hagenah,
I was so sorry to hear of Bill's death. If I could describe the perfect day in the office, it would begin with Bill as my first patient. He was always so friendly and upbeat. The first words out of his mouth were always questions about what was going on with my son and daughter. Bill was a wonderful man and we will all miss him.

I had the opportunity to get to know Bill a few years ago as he acted as an advisor to me while I applied and gain acceptance into Northwestern's JD-MBA program. By providing me with his time and advice, he instilled in me the value of acting as a mentor to others, a role I try to fulfill in part as a result of Bill's mentorship to me. From the entries in this guest book, it is clear that many of us saw Bill as a man who reached out to others and to the community as a whole, and I hope that each of us continue to keep his kindness and generosity in mind as we make similar decisions in our own lives.

I have always thought of Bill as a life-long best friend. In 1943 Bill showed up in my crew in Navy Bombing Squadron 102 on Guadalcanal as a navigator Bombardier. I knew him as a fine officer and a credit to the success of our missions.
After the War, Bill and Marj attended many naval reunions. During those times we enjoyed great chats. There were also wonderful visits in Florida and Chicago over the years. I will miss our talks.
My prayers to Margj.

I had the pleasure of driving Mr. Hegenah to many of his appointments at Presbyterian Homes. We had several long, interesting and amusing conversations over the last couple of years. He was one of the most kind and upbeat guys I ever met, and what a wonderful voice! My sincerest condolences to the family.

I mainly knew him through Phil, met him only a few times in person, but remember him vividly for his warm and energetic presence that seemed to breathe life into everyone who came into contact with him. What a great blessing to have lived such a rich and full life and to pass so easily. May we all we so fortunate.
