Robert Marty

Marty, Robert Joseph Age 89, passed away on May 17, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital, Paducah, KY. Mr. Marty was born on October 2, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, where he married Barbara Stouffer in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the Air Transport Command Stateside and the European Theatre in the Azore Islands. He worked for Cuneo Press in Chicago, transfering to their Kokomo, Indiana Division where he became Director of Manufacturing. When this plant was absorbed by world Color Press in 1976, he was transferred to Effingham where he completed 43 years in the printing industry, retiring in 1989. While in Effingham, Illinois, he was a member of the St. Anthony Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 120, Elks Lodge 1020, The Effingham Sportsbackers , and an avid sports fan. Mr. Marty is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara (Stouffer). He was a loving father to Bonnie Martoccio and Tina Eggemeyer (Rich). Dearest brother of Tina Connolly (Patrick); Beloved grandfather of Cheryl Swanson (John), Margaret DiSantis, Joseph Rocco DiSantis (Misty) and Morgan, Alexis, Nicholas, and Joseph Eggemeyer; Proud great-grandfather to Jonathon Joseph and Ava Nicole Swanson, Gia Simone and Luciana Sofia DiSantis. Will be greatly missed by cousins, family and friends. Mr. Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Joseph R. Martoccio and son, Robert Marty Jr. A private memorial service with interment at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside, IL will be held at a later date.
