Robert Gardner

Gardner, Robert Lane Of Jacksonville, passed away on April 23, 2013. He was born on October 24, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was the son of Clarence and Margaret Anne Agnew. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and brother, John. Bob began a career with TTX (Trailer Train) Company of Philadelphia in 1965. His career was interrupted in 1966 when he served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After completing his military duty, Bob returned to TTX (Trailer Train) Company. During Bob's career with TTX, he moved from Philadelphia, PA to Chicago, IL and then to Jacksonville, FL where he retired from TTX in 2001. Bob's personal life centered around his love of sports. He was an avid Jacksonville Jaguars fan and was a season ticket holder since 1995. His favorite baseball team was the Philadelphia Phillies and he attended their Spring Training Camp in Clearwater, FL every March. Bob was also a member of the Amelia Cruizers Car Club. Bob touched many lives and he will be missed by all of his friends. Friends are invited to attend the visitation and burial. Visitation to be held on May 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. Following full military honors, Bob will be laid to rest at 10:00 a.m. May 20th at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to one of Bob's favorite charities: Salvation Army, Jacksonville Humane Society, Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches.
