Rivers, Rev. Dr. Lorraine Josephine (nee Alexander) Was born April 27, 1930 to Will and Elise (Burns) Alexander, in Chicago, Illinois. She departed this life after being diagnosed with cancer, Monday evening, August 12, 2013 at Trinity Advocate Hospital. Pastor Rivers leaves behind her husband, of 61 years, Willie Sr.; children, Carla-Jean (preceded in death), Debra, Willie Jr., Catherine; grandchildren, Lenard, Randall, Willie III, Gerald Jr., Cedric, Karla, Michael, Darnell, Betty-Lorraine; sisters, Delores, Shirley, Corita, Barbara, and her brother, Bryant; as well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pastor Rivers was the proud founder and senior pastor of Christ Spiritual Way to Truth Universal Ministries, located 12730 S. Halsted, in Chicago, IL. Along with being a pastor, she worked as a State Revenue Officer for over 25 years. Pastor Rivers attended DuSable High School, then went on to study at Olive Harvey College and Chicago State University. Pastor Rivers attended Moody Bible Institute and received her Master Certificate from the Institute of Better Living (under the direction of Johnnie Coleman). She was ordained to preach by Archbishop Lucius Hall of the First Spiritual Churches of Truth Inc. She lived by the scripture "We Walk By Faith and Not By Sight," II Corinthians 5:7. Funeral arrangements prepared by A.R Leak Funeral Home on 79th and Cottage Grove. Funeral is Saturday, August 17, 2013, at First Church of Love & Faith, located 2140 W. 79th St.; wake at 10:00 a.m, service at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Burr Oak Cemetery, 4400 W. 127th St., Alsip, IL.
