To June Pembroke's sons. I remember your mother as a marvelous woman, librarian and one who loved life. She talked of her book about her cat who visited Harold Washington down the hall. Hope it got published; if not, perhaps you will get it done for her. That is part of her legacy. God bless you always. Patricia Bray, Retired CTLA member.

Maceo and John,
As others remember their Mother on this special day, it may be a sad reminder to you of the recent loss of your Mom. However, cherish the innumerable precious memories of your many years with her. Know that God put this very special angel in your life. Words are not sufficient to describe her."She is the very best" and you are fortunate enough to have her as your Mother. God will continue to bless and watch over you.
Also, remember we are here to offer you support whenever you need it.

Dr. Pembroke inspired me to set goals for myself and strive for the best. She had a happy face even when i did something she did not like. I will miss her as she really touched my life. To the family, thank you for sharing your mom, neighbor, and friend with me and my family.

Dr. Pembroke you are in my heart, your course is complete, WELL DONE !

Dr. June will be sorely missed! She has been an inspiration to those of us in the field of librarianship and education. She served as a mentor for the Chicago Teachers for the 21st Century program through the Chicago Public Schools Department of Libraries and Information Services and worked tirelessly to help train new librarians. She has been a great friend and mentor. May God bless and heal her family and friends.

Dr. Pembroke was a gift to the field of Library Science. I remember her warm smile and her enthusiasm while I was a student at Beasley Academic Center. She instilled the lost art of understanding the Dewey Decimal System, and on behalf of her all of her former students from Beasley class of 1988, we will miss and cherish her deeply. My prayers go out to her family & friends during this difficult time.

Soror Pembroke, I will miss your "smiling" emails and your smiling face. Thank you for being part of the continuum that brought me into our great sisterhood, and who showed me -- by deed, word and heart -- what the love and dedication of sisterhood really means. You will truly, truly be missed. Watch over us and keep steering us toward all that is righteous, and all that is love.

Prayers go out to the Pembroke family. Mrs. Pembroke made going to the Library something I wanted to due more than something I needed to do. I sit here and smile and my heart is filled with delight in memory of her; however, my heart is heavy to learn of her passing. She truely was a beauty lady inside and out.

Dear Family,
Please know that we are fervently praying for you. June was a very special spirit that lived among us for too short a time. She had a powerful yet gentle way of pursuading others that kept the peace and got the job done. She will be missed.
With sympathy,
