Edward Uhlir

Uhlir, Edward Keith 73, architect, advocate for public open space and parks, planner, author, traveler, home chef, jack-of-all-trades, and Chicago native, passed away peacefully November 22, 2017. Ed had a distinguished 25 year career at the Chicago Park District as the chief architect and later the director of research and planning, but is most well known for his work serving as the design director and master planner of Chicago's Millennium Park, and later as the executive director of the Millennium Park Foundation. Beloved spouse of 48 years to Bonnie Uhlir McBride; loving father of Lydia (Scott Balzer) and Laura Uhlir; dear brother of Gail Uhlir; son of the late Edward Frank Uhlir and Aldona Barbara Uhlir (nee Semon), and friend to many. Memorial service, early 2018. Private interment of cremated remains at Graceland Cemetery.
