Craig, Corrina K. Age 24, beloved only child of Stephen Craig and Sharon Kiddon, died of complications following chemotherapy for leukemia on December 11. Born July 14, 1988, she graduated from Northside College Prep in 2006 and earned a BA in sociology at the University of Illinois in 2010. For several summers she proudly served as a lifeguard at Leone Beach, 64th Street Beach, and Foster Beach. Cory was an avid Chicago sports fan and loved to travel. She had just begun to pursue her interest in acting. Cory embraced life and brought joy to her many friends and family. She was and will always be the light of our life. A celebration of Cory's life will be held February 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the cultural center at Berger Park, 6205 N. Sheridan Rd. in Chicago, on the lakefront she loved.

Cory and my son Adam were together for several years. He also was by her in the hospital in the months prior to her passing (when he was not working). This is how I got to know Cory a bright soul; an Angel. Cory touched our lives significantly and we think of her often. I miss her bright smile that touched so many. Steve and Sharon, you are wonderful, caring parents. Cory's Memorial bench on the Lakefront looking over the water is visited often. Love, Ava

Cory, you come to me from time to time during the day and give me inspiration to let go of my attachment, to do my best and keep on keeping on. As Meher Baba said and you personified, "Do the best you can do and leave the rest to God. Don't worry; be happy."

Cory,
It has been 2 years since you left us, to become an Angel. I knew you only a few of your 24 years, quality time which I wish could of been longer. You are so very special.
My memory of you is of a bright, joyful and talented young lady. This memory will have me smiling until the end of my time. I think of you often.
Sharon and Steve,
You are both wonderful human beings. So much in this world cannot be made sense of. I wish for you a deep sense peace and many warm memories on this day.
Love,

Memory shards lay scattered on every path. I confront them always. I recently watched the Northside soccer video from your senior year--it was a season's highlights set to music, mostly Stephanie or Ashley dribbling through bewildered defenders--the intro was scenes of guys doing pratfalls in the hall accompanied by roaring laughter. I'm almost certain it's you. Could be another of the Choo Crew as you all tended to share mannerisms, but I feel I'm hearing your roaring laughter. It continues to haunt me, simultaneously the brightest joy and darkest void. I'm afraid to share it. I love you always.

Happy Birthday Cory. Mom and I are going out to visit your bench today. I wish we could hold and hug you. I miss you constantly. Many moments alone I think of you and cry out, slicing bananas on my cereal, listening to music, looking at the green Chicago summer.

One year ago today we had to say goodbye. It's been hard letting go, but knew we had to try.
We hear your laughter on sunny days, when the wind blows across the lake, and remembering the sunshine of your smile, makes each day a little easier to take.
You are gone but not forgotten, we treasure our years of the past; laughter, joy and love, a tribute that will last.
Angels watch over us, I believe that's true, a special angel named Cory, watches over me and you.
With much love,
Aunt Beverly and Uncle Bill

I taught Cory in Chicago at Northside College Prep. I was her class advisor for three years. I just found the old list and went to find out about my sweet student. Devastated to see she was lost too soon. Much love to her family and friends. She was a bright, caring and funny girl. I am so sorry. So sad. What a terrible loss.

Her full name was Corrina, but we all called her Cory.
Her time on earth was short, yet her life a beautiful story.
It all began one summer, on the 14th of July.
A warm day in Chicago, underneath a clear blue sky.
When Cory was only three weeks old, she was out at Wrigley Field.
Her passion for sports and her love of the game soon would be revealed.
She had an active childhood, a seasoned traveler too.
Spending time by the water was her favorite thing to do.
Her Mom and Dad gave her of love, guidance and support.
She excelled at school, had lots of friends, and enjoyed playing all sports.
Cory faced challenges in her life as all young people do, but with inner strength and courage she was able to push through.
In her last weeks, as hard as she tried, she couldn't change the end of her story.
Her full name was Corrina, but we all called her Cory.
Love,
Aunt Beverly

Cory and I attended an acting class together. She had great energy and always took a risk on stage showing great insight of the character she was potraying. She was so much fun to watch.
One evening we shared an "el" ride home. We talked and realized I knew several people she went to high school with and what a small world it can be. She talked of her love of traveling and theater.
I was so saddened to hear of her passing. May Cory's memory always be for a blessing.

I was shocked to hear of her passing. I only met her when she was abroad in Belgium to the university I studied at at the time, during the World Cup soccer. She was so excited to be immersed in that festive atmosphere and just one of those people you'd only need to meet once, to remember forever.
I'll remember you Cory. Sorry I didn't make it to Chicago in time after college to buy you back the beer I owed.
All the strength to her family and close friends.

On the first day of our acting class, the teacher had us write down three interesting things about ourselves on a small piece of paper, put it in a basket, and another student would select it at random. We would then sit in a circle and one-by-one read aloud what was on the piece of paper we'd chosen. One of the things that the person had written on the piece of paper that I had was "I have a tattoo of a black cat" (or something like that, I could be wrong). When I read that one aloud, I immediately noticed Corrina bashfully looking away, and of course I knew right away it was her. I will probably always remember that about her!
I'm so sorry to hear the sad news! She's doing acting rehearsals with the angels now and I bet she's waaay more talented than any of them! Best wishes to the family!

I just heard about your passing and it breaks my heart. I remember meeting you last February at Acting Studio. You had this really sweet, fun, loving, energetic yet innocence about you. I remember the "picnic scene" you did and it was amazing to watch you bring your character to life. A sweet young soul is what you were. We spoke briefly about you wanting to do more acting and really pursue it. Sadly, you will never get that chance. I know that you are in a happier place with God, but you will always be missed in memory and spirit here. I can not believe you are gone but you are and will never be forgotten Corrina. Xoxo

I found out only yesterday about Corrina's unexpected passing. She was a lovely young woman with a kind heart and quite a bit of talent, as well. I taught her twice and adored her energy, her enthusiasm, and her willingness to explore in class. All of us at Acting Studio were fond of her, and I feel grateful for the 4 months I was allowed to be her instructor. Arms around you, her parents, and all of you who were her closest family & friends. I look forward to celebrating her life with you all.
