Balondo, Zorayda D. - Chicago  
Balondo, Zorayda Discar Zorayda Discar Balondo, fondly called "Zee" by colleagues, "Zorro" by longtime friends, and "Zor" by family members, passed away on the morning of August 21, 2016 at the age of 72. She is survived by her niece, Floresa Balondo, who was by her side at the time of her passing; siblings in the Philippines Fe Corazon, Conrado, Sarah and Emmanuel; in-laws, nephews and nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, relatives, and friends. She was born on February 15, 1944 in Borongan, Eastern Samar. She came to the United States in the early 1970s to work as a nurse in Ionia, Michigan, and later moved to Chicago to work in the Our Lady of Resurrection Hospital which later became simply known as Resurrection Hospital on Talcott Avenue. As a nurse for over 40 years, she was a very caring and thoughtful person who was well-loved by colleagues and patients alike. Her remains are at the Care Memorial Cremation on 515 Anderson Drive, Romeoville, IL. There will be a viewing on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. Those who wish to pay their respect and say their final goodbyes are invited to attend. Donations in lieu of flowers are hereby being requested by the surviving family members. As part of her wishes, her remains will be cremated and sent home to the Philippines where she will be laid to her final rest.
