Garver, Edwin G. United States Army Air Corp. Beloved husband of 70 years to Sybil (nee Daughtry) Garver; loving father of Gil Garver, Jane (Joseph) Ventimiglia, Diane (the late Bob) Castillo, Zach (Cynthia) Garver, and Michael (Marianne) Garver; cherished grandfather of 7; and the late grandson of Staff Sergeant Cory Edwin Garver; devoted great-grandfather of 12. Visitation Tuesday 9:30 to 10:30 at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 9525 Lawndale Avenue, Evergreen Park, IL 60805. Mass immediately following at 10:30 a.m. Interment private. First American Daylight Raid into Germany in 1943. He was shot down in October of 1943 and P.O.W. for 2 years. He was past commander of Greater Chicago Chapter American P.O.W.'s. James, Eugene - Markham  
James, Eugene 1943 - 2016; Eugene James passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the age of 72. He was laid to rest Monday, April 4, 2016 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Eugene was a Army Veteran. He was an outstanding athlete in both football and basketball. This allowed him to travel through out Europe playing sports for the Army. In the 70s, Eugene played for Rockford Rams, a semi-professional team in the Central States Football League, that dominated the local sports scene. Eugene had an extensive career in sales, starting with BASF Corporation (Wyandotte) and Carnation Company to name a few. His last sales job was in the chemical industry for Ecolab. He changed gears and became a Special Agent for the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, where he retired. During this time he served four years as an Alderman in the south suburbs of Markham, IL; was on the School Board for District 144 for over 10 years; he was a governing board member of the South Metropolitan Association for the mentally challenged children and on the executive board of directors of S.P.E.E.D Co-op. Eugene was the first African American President for the Bremen Township Republican Party. Eugene ran for State Senator for the 15th District. Some may recognize him from doing several t.v. commercials and heading up a social organization in Chicago (Rumplestillskin) in the 1970's. Eugene is survived by the love of his life, Catherine; their daughter, Jacqueline; their nephew (like a son), Kenneth Johnson, his daughter Karen (Michael) Pouncy; three sisters, Eddie Mae Dorsey, Mary Alice Farmer, Lillian (J.C.) Coats; two brothers, Louise "Billy" James, Robert (Fannie) James; one cousin, John "Dicky Boy" Irvin; one sister-in-law, Sammie George; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jensen, Allen C. Age 89, of Inverness. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Geragosian); loving father of Mark (Cathy), Jensen, Cynthia (Robert) Kelel, Eric Jensen and Lisa (Ron) Guidice; cherished grandfather of Gerald (Meaghan) Kelel, Kathleen (Derrick) Sanborn, Ryan, Ronnie and Robbie Guidice; great-grandfather of Cameron Kelel, Skyler and Keegan Sanborn; dear brother of Robert (late Mary and Sally), Earl (late Dorothy), Don (Leo Dovelle) and the late Janice (late Armand Brown and late Norman Jelso); Allen was adored by his many nieces and nephews. He worked for the Detroit Times, Detroit Free Press and Chicago Sun-Times, most recently as a production manager. Allen was an Army veteran of WWII and a long-standing member at St. Hubert Catholic Church and an usher for over 30 years. He was born May 23, 1926 in Detroit, MI to the late Estelle and Emil Jensen, and passed away April 25 with his family at his side. Jodka, Alma - Evergreen Park  
Jodka, Alma Maria Passed away April 22, 2016, the only child of the late Nicodemus and the late Maria Jodka, born in Lithuania on July 14, 1941. She and her parents arrived in the United States on January 20, 1951. They came by way of Bremerhaven, Germany and landed in New York City. Somehow they made their way to Chicago and made it their home. Alma went to grade school on the south side and graduated Parker High School in 1959. After graduating, she went to work at the Chicago Public Library, worked at an art studio and worked in retail clothing for a while. In 1974 she was hired at Andersen Consulting (Accenture) where she worked as an Executive Assistant for the next 25 years until she retired in 1999. Alma loved to read, go to dinner at fine restaurants and shop! She also loved fine art and beautiful silver jewelry. She was fortunate enough to have traveled all over Europe and enjoyed going to Mexico regularly. She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee! Alma loved her friends and her friends loved her. She would offer to do all she could to make her friends' lives easier. By the same token, her friends would do the same for her. Alma's life will be celebrated by her good friends, Betty Johnson, Susan Kane, and Kathy McNamara; Natalie and Bo Jarnstedt of Connecticut; Karen Jops of Detroit; Dr. Jessica Lippman; Mohammed her driver and other relatives of her friends; co-workers and associates.
