Diaz, J. Guadalupe "Lux" 93, of Chicago, died in his home surrounded by loving family, on March 27, 2013. Born December 13, 1919, he joins his parents, Jose and Maria Francisca (nee Garcia); brothers, Joseph, Catarino and Gabriel. Lux leaves behind his trophy wife of 66 years, Beatrice (nee Gonzalez); his children, Cynthia, Norbert, David and son-in-law, Dan Popuch; grandchildren, Jason (Liz), Eli Popuch, Nadine Peterson, Audrey Peterson and Gabriel Popuch; sister-in-law, Ann (nee Majerczyk); many cousins, including Jesus Galindo and Olga (Gabino) Covarrubias and many nieces and nephews. A decorated WWII Army veteran and former member of the Pipefitters Union, Lux was active in the Back of the Yards community where he lived until 1964 and was a founding and current member of the Mary McDowell Settlement Alumni Association. Memorial service Saturday, April 13 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4500 S. Ashland, Chicago. Church hall at 8:30 AM, Mass at 9AM. In lieu of flowers donations to M.M.S.A.A. Scholarship Fund, c/o V. Artega, 3923 W. 106th St., Chicago 60655.
