I only knew John for four months, but the impact his leaving had on me is quite large. He was intelligent, dutiful and great friend as far as I could tell. I am thankful for having known him and I want to let his family members know that my thoughts are with them.

Dear Cathy and Ciara,
Mere words cannot express the sorrow and sympathy I feel for you and your family at this most difficult time. I never had the privilege of meeting John but through the testimonials of others I know that he was a fine young man. One cannot begin to understand God's plan for these young people taken too soon. I can only extend my own personal explanation after the loss of my own son. I believe that our boys were simply too good for this world. That at some point this tainted world we live in would have corrupted a young person that God believed was too gentle, too sincere, too loving to be scarred by a world not deserving. And so, He in his wisdom brought them home. To a home where he will be able to guide you and touch your life and the lives of others in so many possitive ways. My heart aches for you as you suffer through these difficult days. Only one who has experienced your kind of loss could truly understand. I end with these thoughts; please open your hearts to accept John's loving touch in the gentle breeze. The sound of his laughter from babes that are yet to come into your life, and most of all know that he is always there. Look for and accept his signs. His love for you is unending.
With love, sympathy, and prayers

I remember John as a sweet little boy who would follow me around during my day shift at Doc Ryan's nearly 14 years ago. He was my buddy taking care of the damn turtles and my partner in crime when we had to get rid of them. His beautiful smile will never be forgotten. He is your angel now. I am deeply saddened by this great tragedy. My prayers are with you Cathy and Ciara.
He is forever in my prayers. -Sarah Bolt Martin-

Dear Jackie, Cathy, Ciara and family

We were deeply saddened to hear about the sudden and tragic death of John. Nothing prepares you in life for this. We hope the loving memories will bring you peace and strength and will remain in your hearts through the days ahead. He was a remarkable young man who had such a positive and profound impact in so many ways. Our love and prayers are with you. God bless you.

Each day we'll shed a silent tear,
As we just want to say
How much we really loved you
And how we want you near

Take our million Irish teardrops,
and wrap them up in love,
Then ask the wind to carry them,
To you in heaven above.

I had the pleasure of coaching John on our "Doc Ryans" Little League baseball team that his parents sponsored when John & my son (Kelly) were 12 years old. I was looking back through my old Coaches Score Book from that year and saw that John was the "Player of the Game" on 4/25/05 hitting a massive 3-Run Home Run to give us the victory. He also pitched that game and striking out 6 while only giving up one hit against a very good team. He was so happy that day. We had a fun, fun team that year and John was a big part of that - what a super teammate, player and young man. He was a great kid and our thoughts & prayers are with his family upon hearing about this tragic news.
